Your crystal bracelet is not a static object. From the moment you begin wearing it, it starts to interact with your energy field — absorbing what is heavy, amplifying what is clear, and gradually building a relationship with you that deepens over time. Like any living relationship, it benefits from attention and care.
The practices below are simple, grounded in tradition, and require no special equipment. Choose the ones that feel natural to you — there is no single correct way to care for crystals, only the way that you will actually do consistently.
Why Crystals Need Cleansing
Crystals are porous, energetically speaking. They absorb the emotions, thoughts, and ambient energy of the environments they pass through. A bracelet worn through a difficult week — full of stress, conflict, or grief — will carry traces of that experience in its field. Cleansing releases what has been absorbed, returning the stone to a neutral, open state.
Think of it less as a mystical ritual and more as basic hygiene. You wash your clothes after wearing them; you clean your tools after using them. Cleansing your crystals is the same impulse, applied to a different kind of object.
How to Cleanse Your Bracelet
Moonlight is the gentlest and most universally effective method. Place your bracelet on a windowsill or outdoors on the night of a full moon — or any clear night. Leave it overnight and retrieve it in the morning. The moon's light is considered yin in nature: receptive, purifying, and cooling. This method works for all crystals without exception.
Sound is another excellent option, particularly for bracelets you wear daily. A singing bowl, a tuning fork, or even a few minutes of gentle chanting near the bracelet can clear accumulated energy quickly. Sound vibration penetrates through the stone's structure, loosening and releasing what has settled.
Smoke — from incense, dried herbs, or Palo Santo — is a traditional Thai and Southeast Asian method of purification. Pass your bracelet gently through the smoke with intention. This is a particularly meaningful ritual if you received your bracelet at a Sirarare workshop, as it mirrors the ceremonial practices used in our blessings.
How to Charge Your Bracelet
Cleansing removes; charging replenishes. After cleansing, your bracelet is in a receptive state — open and ready to be infused with intention.
The most powerful charging practice is intention-setting: hold your bracelet in both hands, close your eyes, and consciously direct a specific feeling or purpose into the stones. It might be protection, clarity, calm, abundance, or simply love. Hold the feeling for as long as feels natural. This is what transforms a bracelet from a piece of jewelery into a personal talisman.
Sunlight charges active, yang-energy stones — Tiger Eye, Citrine, Carnelian — beautifully. A few hours in morning sun is usually sufficient. However, avoid sunlight for more delicate stones: Amethyst will fade with prolonged sun exposure, as will Rose Quartz and certain other light-coloured crystals.
Physical Care
Beyond energetic maintenance, your bracelet benefits from practical care. Remove it before swimming, bathing, or applying lotions and perfumes — water and chemicals can degrade the elastic cord over time, and salt water can harm certain stones. When you are not wearing it, store it on a clean surface away from direct sunlight and heat.
The cord on your bracelet is designed to last, but all elastic eventually stretches and weakens. If you notice the fit loosening significantly, contact us — we are happy to re-string your bracelet and preserve the stones you have built a relationship with.
Most of all: wear it. A crystal bracelet that sits in a drawer is not working. The relationship between a stone and its wearer is built through contact, attention, and time.
